What is the difference between Regular and Intensive Courses?

Depending on how quickly you want to progress with your Arabic, Saifi Institute offers two kinds of courses, regular and intensive.  All courses are taught over a period of five weeks, with eight different terms offered in a calendar year.

Regular Courses

Regular courses consist of 30 classroom hours (6 hours per week) over a five-week period. These are half level courses and are denoted by the indication of low or high. Students are expected to attend the classes and should plan on 1-2 hours a day in homework reviewing the material covered in class and practice speaking.  In addition students will be given a mid-term and final exam.  Upon passing the exams, students will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion and may advance to the next course level.

The material taught in a regular course comprises half a level (e.g. beginner-low).  Regular courses are suitable for people already living and working in Lebanon who wish to study Arabic but do not have the time or the budget to study intensively.

Intensive Courses

Intensive courses consist of 75 hours of instruction over five weeks, 3 hours a day M-F. students must submit all homework assignments, pass the mid-term and final exam to receive their Certificate of Completion,  which they need to pass to progress to the next level.

Each intensive course covers all the material for an entire level (e.g. beginner).  In addition to attending classes, students are expected to study at least another two hours to complete the given homework, practice speaking and revise the material covered in class that day.  Intensive courses are suitable for students wishing to immerse themselves in Arabic for a period of time and progress as quickly as possible.
